Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, Kaira collects your email address. Authentication uses magic links, so no passwords are stored.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Kaira does not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials. Stripe provides a transaction ID and payment status.

Vault data. Information you enter into your vaults (contacts, documents, financial accounts, legal statuses) is stored in the database and protected by access controls that ensure only you can see your data.

Usage data. Kaira collects anonymized usage analytics (pages visited, features used, session duration) to improve the product, along with error reports to fix bugs.

How Your Information Is Used

• Provide and personalize the Kaira service
• Process payments and manage your account
• Send transactional emails (purchase confirmations, magic links, account updates)
• Generate personalized content (timelines, templates, obituary drafts) using AI
• Improve the product based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
• Respond to support requests

Kaira does not sell your personal information. Your vault data is never shared with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

Kaira uses a suite of third-party services for hosting, authentication, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring, and personalized recommendations. Only the minimum data necessary for each service to function is shared, and your data is never used to train external models. Kaira takes your data security seriously, and each provider is selected with that standard in mind.

Cookies and Tracking

Kaira uses essential cookies to maintain your authentication session. PostHog may set a cookie to distinguish unique visitors for anonymized analytics.

Kaira does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, cross-site tracking, or retargeting networks.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your vault data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time from your account settings. When you delete your account:

• Your vault data is permanently deleted within 30 days
• Your email is removed from Kaira's systems
• Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained
• Payment records are retained as required by law and Stripe's data retention policies

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data held about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of analytics tracking

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. Kaira does not sell personal information. Requests are processed within 45 days. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Kaira processes your data on the basis of contract performance (providing the service you purchased) and legitimate interest (improving the product). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, Kaira will notify affected users by email within 72 hours of confirming the breach, as required by applicable law.

Children’s Privacy

Kaira is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact hello@usekaira.com and it will be deleted.

Artificial Intelligence

Kaira uses third-party AI services to provide personalized content features within the application, including call preparation scripts, personalized task guidance, voice/text data entry, and obituary drafts.

Data sent to AI providers is minimized to the minimum necessary for the feature. Kaira never sends full account numbers, Social Security numbers, financial balances, or contact details to AI providers.

Our agreements with AI providers contractually prohibit them from using your data to train or improve their AI models.

AI-generated content is clearly marked within the application and should not be relied upon as legal, financial, or medical advice.

All AI features have non-AI alternatives. You may use Kaira without AI personalization at any time.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email. Your continued use of Kaira after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
